When you visited someone’s house for the first time, you brought something, even if it was just a loaf of bread, because bread has always been the universal Nigerian gesture of goodwill. For more sophisticated visits, you brought wine or a fruit basket.
Somewhere along the line, we started losing that, and I think it is worth getting it back.
